Brocks Lane Warehouse, Sydney
Building / Residential
- Type of Building: Free Standing Warehouse
- Area: Sydney
- Builder: Undisclosed
The Brocks Lane Warehouse project had to satisfy the residential and professional needs of a single father and his son. The front of the warehouse was aptly suited to be the focus of the business while the rear was transformed into two bedrooms, a private study, bathroom and an open plan living, dining and kitchen area.
We used existing architectural features to create a strong definition between the new and the old; subtly preserving the traditional character while expressing a more modern aesthetic through colours and materials.
As luck would have it the existing undercroft space allowed us to add additional floorspace without increasing the building footprint or going through lengthy Council approvals.
The client loved to entertain so we kept the kitchen and bathroom close to the pergola sheltered outdoor space so that guests wouldn’t need to access the entire house when visiting. Keeping things simple, clean and functional successfully met the needs of this client and project context.
