Our clients wanted to maintain the utilitarian sense of their property but provide a nurturing space for their child on the way. To make the most of light and space, we deliberately built to boundary and created internal courtyards on each level resulting in a modern and eclectic family home with three bedrooms, open concept kitchen, dining, living spaces, two bathrooms and a generous home office with city views. The design celebrated the fabric of original warehouse space by preserving the original brick and incorporating interior features like open bookcases and kitchen shelving. The internal courtyard gave the house a distinctive street front personality and set up an even balance of light in the home, pushing the living spaces further away from the main street and creating a private and intimate feel when you entered the space.
