Vaucluse House 01
Architecture / Residential
- Type of Building: Free Standing House
- Area: Vaucluse, Sydney NSW
Our clients purchased a mid-century home that had been fragmented by a dual occupancy renovation. We restored the character of the property and its gorgeous harbour views by creating a sophisticated and generously appointed home rich in timber, stone and glass. The design focused on vertical circulation and we placed the master bedroom, kitchen, dining and lounge on the top level, which had the best views. The mid-level was reserved for their teenagers and the lower level led to a gym, outdoor entertaining area, cabana and pool. One of the most impressive spaces was the master bedroom where we used large sections of glass to make it feel as though one was sleeping suspended above the harbour. The client’s own collection of art and furniture was used to great effect in the home. Externally we needed to consider the homes proximity to the harbour by specifying robust salt tolerant materials.
