The original residence on Wiley Street, Waverley was plagued with an imposing attached structure, tight spaces and dark rooms. Although our clients were weary of the house itself, they wanted to keep the property for its desirable area and proximity to the beach and city.

As empty nesters their purpose was to renew their lifestyle without children and rebuild on the property. The primary aim of our design was to create a modern home filled with light and a sense of openness. While it was a challenge with such a narrow sight and it required tenacious planning to get a third level approved, we were able to deliver what our clients wanted.

The end product is a light filled home with a courtyard entry set-back for privacy and a more dramatic street presence. Timber touches soften indoor and outdoor transitions and rendered white walls make this diminutive home appear expansive and peaceful.
