Whilst our clients wanted to keep this property as they loved the area and the land’s proximity to the beach and city, they did not love the original residence with its imposing attached structure, tight spaces and dark rooms. As empty nesters the brief was to renew their lifestyle without children and rebuild on the property to create a modern home filled with light and openness. With such a narrow site it required tenacious planning to get a third level approved, but we were able to deliver what our clients wanted. The end product is a light filled home with a courtyard entry set-back for privacy and a more dramatic street presence. Timber touches soften indoor and outdoor transitions and rendered white walls make this diminutive home appear expansive and peaceful.
