At only 4 metres wide, this tiny terrace had very little light and underutilized space in the lower level. We introduced large opaque windows in the new dining and kitchen areas to drench the space in natural light and added vertical circulation between the first floor and lower ground level. Opening up the first floor of this terrace created movement in the space and we designed a new master bedroom, guest bedroom, shared ensuite and two external courtyard areas to capture the ocean views. The balance of traditional and modern detailing extended to the roof form in the use of simple cladding and express joints to contrast with original rendered masonry.
